18th Annual Jordan Owens Memorial Initiation Hockey Tournament @ Langley Sportsplex
Mar 21 @ 8:00 am – Mar 25 @ 8:00 pm

The Langley Minor Hockey Association is hosting the 18th Annual Jordan Owens Memorial Initiation Hockey Tournament in March 2018.  This tournament is a tribute to the memory of Jordan Owens who passed away on July 8, 1999 after his long battle with cancer. Jordan was a child who enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, with hockey being his greatest love. In his own way, Jordan showed those watching the game of hockey that there was so much more involved than just winning. He always demonstrated patience, understanding, and the true meaning of team sport.

Over the 18 year history of the tournament, they have proudly raised over $190,000.00 for BC Children’s Hospital.

This year, always thinking outside of the box for fun new ways to get involved, a parent suggested some of the money go towards helping the parents of the kids fighting cancer- so they invited Balding For Dollars to attend a day to raise some awareness and funds!

Balding for Dollars is an event in partnership with the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation to raise funds to support programs that benefit Oncology, Hematology and Bone Marrow Transplant patients. The monies raised goes into programs that support our patients’ quality of life while undergoing treatments and the hair donated is used to make wigs for kids. If we can bring a little happiness to them during such a difficult time, it makes everything worth it. The learn more about the amazing programs we provide please go to!

We will be setting up a table on the busiest day, Saturday Mar. 24th– where the out of town teams are in house to play the tournament! We will be available for info, to sell some Balding For Dollars merchandise and to collect donations in the morning. Please stop by to say hi, learn more about Balding For Dollars, and to get yourself some swag!

Last year’s Balding for Dollars event raised over $100,000. Over 500 family members, friends, and staff gathered at BC Children’s Hospital to shave their heads or cut-off their locks in support of kids with cancer and to enjoy the carnival atmosphere, which included live band, arts and crafts, a post shave photo area as well as an array of delicious goodies for the participants and supporters to enjoy.

Hundreds more supporters of this event shaved their heads in similar events that took place in Whistler, Squamish, Victoria and other Lower Mainland locations, contributing to a province-wide fundraising total of more than $200,000!

You can help us beat last year’s total by signing up to shave/cut your hair, or hosting your own event!  Sign up for Balding for Dollars today and make a difference in the lives of kids affected by cancer!
