We are proud of all of our programs but one program that we are particularly proud of is our Survivorship Education and Bursary program for BC Children’s Hospital Oncology/Hematology patients. As we’ve identified in our other programs, a cancer diagnosis will take a financial toll on a family. It is difficult enough to try to go to college or university as a teen who hasn’t had cancer so imagine what it could be like to take this next step in life after having come through such an experience. For many of our teens and young adults not having the financial support makes the dream of a post-secondary education impossible to reach.
That’s where we come in.
DO YOU KNOW. . .We are the ONLY organization in western Canada that currently offers scholarships to childhood cancer survivors. We are also the only one that doesn’t require a minimal grade point average in order to apply. As long as the young adult went through our Oncology/Hematology programs at BCCH, they are eligible for a bursary and should apply. All we ask is that they give back in return to help us make a difference for the next kids that need the support.

There are two opportunities a year for teens and young adults to apply for a bursary. The deadline of the bursary that covers the Summer or Fall semester (from May- Aug or Sept-Dec) is JUNE 15th. This is the next application deadline! Don’t sleep on it or you might miss out. The deadline of the bursary that would cover the Winter/Spring semester (from Jan – April) is Nov 15th.
