Hair Donation

Supporting children through cancer treatment can be both heartfelt and fun—especially when it involves donating your hair! By chopping off those locks, you’re not just getting a fresh new look, you’re helping create wigs for kids who’ve lost their hair during treatment. It’s an amazing way to spread joy, boost confidence, and show kids that they’re not alone in their journey. Plus, what could be cooler than knowing your hair is helping someone else feel like a superstar?

If you're thinking about donating your hair, review the following criteria before grabbing your scissors to ensure it’s suitable:

  • Hair should be washed and fully dried
  • Hair should be a minimum of 10 inches in length
  • Secure hair with one tie at the top-end of the ponytail only
  • Do not braid the ponytail
  • Place hair directly in a paper envelope

Did you know it takes hair from 15-20 different donors to make one wig?

Balding for Dollars partners with Wigs for Kids BC and Eva & Co. Wigs to ensure Oncology/Hematology patients can receive a wig if they choose. After meeting with a social worker, patients are fitted and select a style at Eva & Co. Wigs. Thanks to the generous hair donations we receive, Eva & Co. Wigs can subsidize the cost of the wigs (typically $1,500 to $3,000) with Wigs for Kids BC covering the remaining balance.

You can mail your hair donations directly to Eva & Co. Wigs or through Balding for Dollars.
