Patient & Practical Support

Our Patient & Family Practical Support program is one of our most vital initiatives, providing aid to families when they need it most. When a child is diagnosed with cancer or a blood disorder, the entire family is affected. We work with social workers to ensure families receive the emotional, financial, and logistical support they need during this challenging time.

Families often face significant financial burdens, such as one parent quitting their job to care for the child or traveling long distances for treatment. To help, we provide temporary accommodations, gas cards, parking passes, grocery gift cards, and meal vouchers. For families staying at the hospital, we offer laundry facilities and assist with medical supplies not covered by insurance. Our New Diagnosis Kits, funded by the Heine family’s Warm Buddy project, include essential items and a comforting bear for children facing new or relapse diagnoses.

We also offer respite through fun activities, such as passes to local attractions, to give families a break from the stress of illness. Hematology families benefit from similar support, including bursaries, retreats, special events, and financial aid for medical supplies like testing strips.

Through these programs, we aim to show families they are not alone. Please consider donating to support this essential work.
