Wow! Was March ever a busy month!
So many great events happened in our community in support of Balding for Dollars and we are so grateful for everyone involved in making these events a success.

March’s events started off on March 12th with Whistler Balding for Dollars at the Garibaldi Lift co. Spearheaded by the Whistler Friends Society, and with incredible community sponsors like Crystal Lodge, they raised over $25,000. This is their 15th year, of hosting a Balding for Dollars Whistler event and they have raised over $250,000 for us. This event is such a highlight for us to attend each year not just because of the amazing atmosphere with live entertainment and silent auction, but because you really feel like you’re part of the community giving back. It is amazing seeing families go up and shave together. Many father/son duos braved the shave and one amazing mom raised over $7000 to donate her hair (which was all the way down her back) and shave her head. The passion to make a difference and to help kids fight cancer was so evident at this event. If you get the chance you’ll have to head up there next year for it.

Our next event took place a few days later on Burnaby Mountain at Simon Fraser University. SFU Club for the Cure hosted their 8th annual Balding for Dollars event having over 20 students sign up to shave/donate their hair. Organized and run by Roohy Thandi, one of our own childhood cancer survivors, this event was truly a success raising over $12,000. Apart from the headshaving, there was an awesome BBQ, games, button making, popcorn machine, a booth to signup to become a stem cell donor, popcorn and much more. It is hard enough to get students to show up to group project meetings let alone commit to an extracurricular fundraiser, so Way to Go Club for the Cure. We are so proud of your accomplishment and are so grateful for yours consistency in supporting us.
Our third and final event in March took place on the 26th at the Central City Brewpub. This was the 2017 MotoGP Kickoff party! If you like MotoGP than this was the place to be! A pre-purchased ticket got you in the door and a burger/beer. Then you had the chance to try your luck at the amazing raffle and 50/50 draw. The prizes were insane! They had everything from motorcycle equipment to an actual motorcycle as the prizes. Claude, and his team did a phenomenal job putting this on and raised over $22,000!!! Absolutely incredible!!

Together, all of these events raised almost $60,000! Thank you all so much for helping us make a difference in the lives of BC’s kids who are affected by cancer!!
We couldn’t do what we do without you.
