With our hearts full of gratitude for Bernie, his team, and all of the amazing supporters that came together to make these unique events happen across the summer of 2021, we are extending a huge thank you from our Balding for Dollars team and on behalf of all the oncology/hematology/BMT families at BC Children’s Hospital. Bands, BBQ, Beers, & Balding 2021 happened in a unique series of outdoor events, kicked off in June by a Father’s Day scavenger hunt hosted by Forbidden Spirits. It was a fun hop around the unique and tasty landscape of about 20 of Kelowna’s vineyards, distilleries, & markets. It was so fun to see the architecture, learn about the history, and taste some of the products. All with the ticket proceeds going to Balding for Dollars, and they raised an incredible $3000 this year!
We are incredibly proud of the individuals, teams, and companies who rallied to raise funds, and come out with record breaking totals this year for the BBBB 2021 events, despite the pandemic challenges faced. An amazing total of $51,155.00 was raised for Balding for Dollars at the BCCHF, adding to the $31,045.00 raised for JoeAnna’s house at KGH, for a grand total of $82,200 raised! This contributes to over $325,000.00 lifetime raised from Bernie Ryan’s Balding for Dollars fundraisers; an incredible feat and milestone to be celebrated. We can’t thank Bernie enough for his generosity & contributions.
We were honoured to have been a part of the first event that kicked off the series early this summer, and the energy under those tents behind Vice & Virtue brewing was palpable. People were so excited to enjoy an evening of coming together for some fundraising, raising glasses, amazing eats, and of course the razor a buzzin’ as about 8 hair chops & head shaves took place live throughout the night. Our favourite had to be young Kendall, who bravely followed his dad with a shave and subsequently had money literally thrown at him towards his fundraising efforts! This is a testament to the incredible community that supports the BBBB events each year. Two other events and some individual efforts were held throughout July & August benefitting both Balding for Dollars & JoeAnna’s house at the KGH foundation. Though these events were small, they were mighty! We also loved getting to taste the specially brewed and aptly named ‘Baldweiser’ lager which was sold throughout the summer at various locations adding to the grand total!
Special thank you to mastermind host Bernie Ryan, FPS, Cellar-Tek, Vice & Virtue, Red Bird Brewing, Gary Benson who individually raised $28,625.00 & shaved for the cause, and all those who volunteered, shaved/fundraised, and donated. Your big hearts have made this all possible, and the magnitude of your contributions are seen, felt, and appreciated beyond words. Once again, on behalf of our team at Balding for Dollars, BCCH and all of the families we support through our donation funded programs, Thank You and we can’t wait to join you all next year for the 19th Annual Bands, BBQ, Beers, & Balding event!
